In Restaurants

  1. If you plan on eating out at a buffet, eat something before you go. Grab a table as far from the buffet as possible. Go through the buffet line one time only. Load up at the salad bar. Select soups that you can see through. If you can see through them, they are broths with less fat and calories. Eat slowly. Savor each bite. Take your time and enjoy eating. If you eat too fast, your stomach will be full long before the message to stop chowing down reaches your brain

  2. Ask yourself if you really tasted and enjoyed that last bite of food. If your answer is no, it’s time to slow down.

  3. To help downsize your portions, use a smaller plate. Instead of a dinner plate, use a salad plate for your entire meal. If you frequent a specific restaurant, ask to take a menu home so you can study what they offer and learn how to plan your meals out.

  4. Put your waiter through his or her paces. Ask lots of questions and don’t stop until you are satisfied.

  5. Split a meal with a friend. Order soup or salad a’ la carte with one entrée and ask the waiter for an extra plate. It will save you money AND reduce the fat in each meal.

  6. Eliminate tartar sauce. If you order a fish fillet sandwich ask that the tartar sauce be left off the bun.

  7. Use evaporated skim milk for sauces and soups. It has the texture and the flavour of cream but without the fat. Each cup contains 80 grams less of fat and 600 few calories than heavy cream.

  8. Plain non-fat or low fat yogurt is a great replacement for sour cream. Use it to make salad dressings. It’s also good as an add-on to breakfast cereals and desserts.

  9. Yogurt can help you lose weight while protecting muscle. A recent study of overweight people who at three servings of yogurt daily for 12 weeks lost 22% more weight, 61% more body fat and 81%more abdominal fat than people who ate a similar number of calories but no dairy products.

  10. A veggie sandwich may not always be the ideal choice.

How to plan holiday trip?

I know everyone likes holidays. Holiday trips are needed to recharge yourself from the boring daily duties. Most of the people do mistakes in properly planning their holidays. This will be most critical when they are the first visitors to that place. However, we can still plan a nice holiday if you follow these steps.

  1. Aware of weather at your holiday spot by browsing through websites, whether hot or cool or humid etc. If you go along with your family, you have to be very careful before leaving your place. You should carefully put all the necessary items like sweaters, jerkins (if you are planning in winter) or handkerchiefs, towels, carry-able water bottles with you. In hot summer, better don't plan your visit with your kids and elder parents. You can search the whole holiday spot in "Google Maps" tool where you can notice the ways, picnic spots, bus stations, ATM centers and have a note on a paper.

  2. Always carry your medicines (thyroxine, or heart stroke tablets, BP tablets which are most essential). If you are having kids, don't forget to carry paracetamol syrup (for fever.. mostly crocin for children below 12 years of age). Crocin container has all the information related to dosage. For protection against cold, use T-Minic syrup. For infants, carry Huggies diapers and two or more sterilized empty milk bottles. Remember that, most of the kids get diarrhea  during holidays, due to change of water. Always purchase mineral water (Kinley, Bailey or Bislery) to mix with infants milk powder, remember to purchase only normal (without cooling) water. For babies upto 1 year of age, you buy Calpol drops (for fever) or any medicine prescribed by your doctor. If possible carry your child's medical record.

  3. Carry mobile chargers, camera along with charger, tooth brushes (with tongue cleaners), tooth paste, soaps, face wash, any of your daily essentials in one of two small boxes. Carry towels and bedsheets (not blankets).. Always be light while traveling.

  4. Mostly plan your journey in the night time when the holiday spot is far from your hometown. Why because, most of the children will disturb their parents in the day time. If you are going by train, always prefer 3AC for day journey/ sleeper for night journeys (in winter). Your family should be ready to enjoy the holiday in the next day or so. For the day journeys, always it is better to carry your food from home. Mostly avoid buying the railway station food (in aluminum foils). For night journeys, always better to take food at home and begin your journey.

  5. If you are willing to go through a private travels, you must be very careful in selecting a good travel agencies. Because, now-a-days we are seeing many innocent lives have been lost due to driver's negligence. So, before planning, make an inquiry with your colleagues, relatives and friends regarding the best travel service. Otherwise, your holiday will be wasted. Always give your number and some of your family members numbers to your most trusted friends. They will  help you in distress.

  6. After reaching your holiday spot, take complete bath to recharge yourself and start enjoying your holiday next day.

Wish you happy holiday
